The Japan International Machine Tool Fair (JIMTOF) returns to Tokyo Big Sight from November 5 to November 10, 2024. DirectIndustry will attend this 32nd edition of the Japanese trade show and provide insights and interviews for our readers.
The 32nd edition of the JIMTOF 2024 is set to open its doors on November 5, 2024, running until November 10 at Tokyo Big Sight. Organized by the Japan Machine Tool Builders’ Association and Tokyo Big Sight Inc., JIMTOF is recognized as one of the world’s largest and most significant trade fairs for machine tools and related industries.
This year’s event promises to be the largest ever. It will feature 1,262 exhibitors from 19 countries with 5,743 booths. This is an increase of 175 companies and 125 booths compared to the previous
edition which was held in 2022.

The Japanese fair is renowned for showcasing the latest innovations in the machine tool industry, making it an essential platform for discovering new products and technologies. JIMTOF 2024 will feature various machine tools, peripherals, and advanced manufacturing technologies, including additive manufacturing, metalworking machinery, precision measuring instruments, and CAD/CAM systems.
JIMTOF 2024 will also feature a compelling program of lectures and seminars by top industry leaders. Kicking off the event will be keynote speeches from Akihiro Teramachi, CEO of THK Corporation, and Shiro Nakamura, President of SN DESIGN PLATFORM Corporation, focusing on the future of electric vehicles (EVs) and new manufacturing concepts.
Influential figures such as Mitsuru Kawai, Executive Fellow at Toyota Motor Corporation, and Akiko Otsuka from JAXA (Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency), will give lectures covering topics ranging from aerospace technology to sustainable construction.

Spanning approximately 120,000 m², JIMTOF 2024 will utilize all of Tokyo Big Sight’s exhibition halls.
Japanese-owned machine manufacturers will exhibit their latest innovations and equipment. These include companies like Amada, DMG MORI, Okuma, Fanuc Corporation, Kanzaki Kokyukoki, Nakamura-Tome, Mitsui Seiki Kogyo, OKK, Yamazaki Mazak, Yasda Precision TYools, JTekt Corporation, Makino Milling, Mitutoyo, Mitsubishi, Kawasaki, Kitagawa, Matsuura, Nikon, Sodick, Kitamura, Brother, Enshu, Fuji Machines, Howa, Ikegai, Murata, Takisawa, Tsugami and Yasda.
It’s worth mentioning that tooling and metrology manufacturers will also showcase their technology. These include companies like Sandvik Coromant, TaeguTec, Mitsubishi Materials, OSG Corporation, Hexagon, Tungaloy, Kennametal, Zeiss, and Renishaw.
There will also be a special concurrent exhibition. The Additive Manufacturing Area will showcase the latest advancements in AM and 3D printing technologies. Through presentations, seminars, and exhibitor workshops, attendees will have the opportunity to explore the most advanced AM technologies and products and learn about their applications in various industries.
