The electric back exoskeleton B900 from exoIQ supports employees in logistics, manufacturing, and skilled trades. It relieves the lower back during heavy lifting and carrying tasks and ensures greater ergonomics in everyday work.

Back pain is a widespread condition—especially in workplaces where physical labor is part of everyday life. In manufacturing, logistics, and skilled trades, it leads to high absenteeism and production losses. According to the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work (EU-OSHA), around 60 percent of work-related absences in Europe are due to musculoskeletal disorders.

With its new back exoskeleton B900, Hamburg-based company exoIQ now offers a solution to relieve workers. Exoskeletons are wearable support systems that assist movements and reduce strain in targeted areas. What makes the B900 unique worldwide is its combination of high support power and unrestricted freedom of movement as an electric powered exoskeleton. The B900 is the first electric exoskeleton that strengthens the back with high support force while allowing complete freedom of movement.

Setting New Standards for Healthy Work

Two motors at hip level and an innovative hip and central joint ensure that the exoskeleton follows the user natural movements while supporting the back muscles and spine. This allows employees in manufacturing, logistics, and skilled trades to perform their tasks more easily and with less strain on the back.

The exoskeleton provides up to 30 kg of support while weighing less than six kilograms. A single battery charge lasts up to eight hours of assistance, depending on usage. The B900 is developed and manufactured in Germany. The price is €6,900 excluding VAT.

Applications and Benefits

The B900 is particularly suitable for industries where heavy loads are frequently handled. In logistics, it assists with loading and unloading goods; in production, it supports assembly tasks; and in skilled trades, it helps with transporting building materials. Companies benefit twice: they promote employee health and reduce sick leave while increasing productivity and job satisfaction.

A Holistic Approach to Prevention and Productivity

With the B900, exoIQ expands its portfolio with another electric powered exoskeleton: following the shoulder exoskeleton S700, which has been on the market since 2023, comes a solution specifically for the back.

“Our goal is to create holistic systems for the prevention of musculoskeletal disorders, thereby contributing to workplace health and making physically demanding jobs more attractive,” says Prof. Dr. Robert Weidner, CEO of exoIQ.

Dr. Andreas Argubi-Wollesen, biomechanist and movement scientist at exoIQ, adds:

“This enables companies not only to promote employee health but also to increase productivity and satisfaction in everyday work.”
