In the spotlight, world-renowned physicist Stephen Hawking warned of AI’s possible destructive effects. In contrast, Al Gore stressed the positive aspects of technology. Chess grandmaster Garry Kasparov battled IBM’s Deep Blue computer in the 1990s. Today, he reckons humans must make sure they’re not outflanked by AI machines.
