In today’s fast-paced supply chain operations, 24/7 efficiency is essential. Compressed air plays a critical role in powering loading docks, pneumatic conveyors, sorting systems, and packaging equipment. To keep these systems running smoothly, Prevost, a leader in compressed air solutions since 1978, has engineered its own advanced compressed air network, designed to meet the relentless demands of modern logistics.

A compressed air system moves energy throughout a piping network to power workstations and machinery. A compressed air network in a logistics center can play an important role in supply chain management by optimizing production and packaging processes by improving the efficiency, productivity, and safety of operations.

Compressed Air in Logistics

Do you know that compressed air is the second largest power source next to electricity? Compressed air is air taken from the atmosphere, whose compressibility is exploited using a pneumatic system. This air is maintained at a pressure higher than that of the atmosphere.

This power source is commonly used in industries including logistics. Facing a range of new challenges, manufacturing and distribution experts have turned their attention to efficient and highly reliable compressed air power.

Most of the supply-chain management requires a 24/7 operation. Compressed air is used to facilitate loading and unloading platforms, pneumatic conveyors, sorting systems, and packaging equipment. To meet these demands, Prevost, a compressed air specialist since 1978, has developed its own compressed air network.

The Prevost Piping System

The Prevost Piping System (PPS) compressed air network is a 100% aluminum concept including compact, lightweight, and professional strength pipes and fittings from 16 (1/2”) to 160mm (6”) diameter. It ensures clean, high-quality air at all times, a sealed system, an optimized flow rate, an operating pressure range from – 0.98 bar to + 16 bar, and a temperature range from – 20°C to + 80°C.

This system has numerous benefits:

  • Compact and lightweight. The PPS range, made entirely of aluminum, offers a system that is compact, lightweight but also durable.
  • High tech, modern material: The incorporation of aluminum alloy, along with external electrostatic coating and internal treatments, safeguards the pipe from both oxidation and corrosion.
  • 100% customizable: The extensive assortment of sizes and fittings enables the system to be both modular and expandable in its construction.
  • Easy and quick to assemble: Just slide the pipe into the PPS fitting and then secure it by tightening the nut.
  • Leak-free with minimal pressure loss: The “PPS Grip Concept” establishes a tight, leak-proof link. The sleek inner surface produces a streamlined flow and low friction, along with a wide flow diameter, all contributing to diminished pressure loss.
  • Compatible with compressor oils: Aluminum and Viton seals are compatible with compressor lubricants.
  • Tough material: Aluminum ensures lasting performance through its mechanical durability, pressure resilience, and shock absorption capabilities.

Accessories & Recommendations

Prevost also offers a full range of pneumatic tools and accessories to accommodate every compressed air system. For example, you can complete your compressed air system with Prevost wall-mounted units featuring 1 to 10 safety fittings, automatic hose reels and air treatment units.

Air treatment units protect pneumatic tools and equipment by purifying compressed air. Three levels of treatment are available: cyclonic separators, standard 25 µm filtration and submicron filtration.

We recommend installing the Prevost 100% aluminum pipe system at a minimum height of 2.5m (8.2ft) from the floor. Install smaller diameter «downpipes» or «drops» off the main line to terminate at distribution points throughout the network. We recommend these points to be approximately 1.2m (3.9ft) from the floor. From these points various accessories can be attached (manifolds, safety couplings, filtration, hoses, etc.).

To ensure maximum performance, our compressed air system team are here from start to finish. Our services include designing, providing materials lists and full quotations.
