Innovative Development Saves Costs and Energy. When quality and efficiency are paramount in manufacturing, precise tool setting takes precedence. To meet these demands, system manufacturer KELCH GmbH offers professional tool presetters in the KENOVA set line product family. These tools are suitable for use in mechanical engineering and all machining operations. Many businesses have relied on these presetters for decades.

A standout feature of the manufacturer’s latest innovation, the KENOVA set line V244 tool presetter, is its unique design. It is the only device on the market designed for operation without compressed air.

Cost and Resource Savings

Most tool presetters require a compressed air connection to move the linear axes. The KENOVA set line V244 is the only tool presetter on the market that operates without a compressed air connection. Thus, it saves one of the most expensive resources in machining: compressed air. From the investment in compressed air systems to energy consumption and regular maintenance, high costs can accumulate in this area of manufacturing.

“Our new tool presetter works sustainably and saves costs. Since it only requires a power connection, it can be easily placed wherever it is needed,” explains Viktor Grauer, Deputy Managing Director and Head of Innovation Management at KELCH.

The manual tool presetter is suitable for businesses of all sizes with corresponding applications and tools.

Adaptable Applications

Thanks to its flexibility in placement, the KENOVA set line V244 can serve as a useful additional tool presetter directly at the machine tool in larger operations. It is also ideal for areas requiring frequent changes and tool adjustments, such as single-part manufacturing or niche applications. Furthermore, this entry-level tool presetter offers a cost-effective solution for repair and maintenance workshops that frequently work with a variety of tools and parts.

The new development operates without compressed air and is also suitable for small businesses and craft workshops to precisely set and measure tools. In educational institutions, such as training and educational facilities, the KENOVA set line V244 is perfect for an initial introduction to optical tool presetting and measurement. It enables quick and precise tool setting even for users without prior knowledge.

Simple Usability

Like all tool presetters in the KENOVA set line series, the new manual tool presetter KENOVA set line V244 is compact and ergonomically designed, seamlessly fitting into the product family. The presetter is designed for tools with a diameter and length of up to 400 mm and a weight of up to 15 kilograms.

The precision adapter sleeve from KELCH is used as the spindle, allowing adaptation to all common tool cones. The easy handling of the tool presetter is supported by excellent accessibility to the spindle. Additionally, the ergonomic workplace design provides ample space for tools and other work materials. With a comparatively low weight of 55 kg, the device can be easily mobilized with minimal additional effort. The high precision and easy operation are complemented by an appealing fresh design in the style of the KENOVA set line series.

Sturdy Construction with High Precision

“With the KENOVA set line V244, we once again achieved a perfect material mix with coefficients of linear expansion as close as possible to each other. This avoids undesirable bimetallic effects, especially when used in non-air-conditioned rooms, ensuring high precision,” emphasizes Viktor Grauer.

The base body made of FEM-optimized cast iron ensures high mechanical precision. The guide rails and the spindle, made of steel, are directly mounted on the base body. This design prevents bimetallic effects and inaccurate measurement results, as can occur with the use of aluminum.

Tool Presetters in All Variants

The KENOVA set line V244 will be available worldwide in the first quarter of 2024. The development is based on KELCH’s more than 80 years of expertise. Today, the system supplier offers the widest range of vertical tool presetters worldwide. The range extends from the simplest entry-level model in the BASIC line to compact solutions for ergonomic workplace design in the INDUSTRIAL line, and solutions for machines with multiple CNC axes in the PREMIUM line.

Additionally, the manufacturer is known for the durability of its presetting and measuring devices and a large complementary range – from tool holders to shrinkage equipment to solutions for workshop logistics. The comprehensive service program includes individual consulting as part of “Smart Factory Services,” supporting customers in optimizing their manufacturing processes.
