Mazak unveiled its new VARIAXIS i-800T Multi-Tasking machine combining liquid nitrogen cryogenic technology and five-axis milling and turning capabilities. It not only delivers highly efficient processing for complex aerospace components, but also prevents the formation of detrimental white layers common when machining tough materials such as titanium, nickel and Invar.
Cryogenically freezing cutting tools from the inside out significantly increases working life. While the cutting edge is frozen, the workpiece remains at ambient temperature. This protects it from possible thermal effects, preserving its material integrity.
The VARIAXIS i-800T features an 80-tool magazine for uninterrupted production, and a 10,000-rpm, CAT-50 spindle for milling speed and power.
