VIDEO. Industry 4.0 Made in Taiwan


Is the Taiwanese Touch a new trend in the industry? Taiwan is the world’s 6th manufacturer and the 5th exporter of machine tools. Seventy-five percent of machine-tools made in Taiwan are exported.

In 2015, at IMTS, the International Manufacturing Technology Show that took place in Chicago, Taiwan was a major exhibitor. More than a hundred Taiwanese companies showcased new smart manufacturing solutions – from Internet of Machine Tools to virtual reality for production planning, and promoted their great quality for lower cost. Is this a reason for traditional Western players to fear the little island’s ambitions?

We met with some of these Taiwanese companies that industry must reckon with. FFG for example makes machine tools with high performance at a low price. They also have virtual reality solution for production planning. And the Taiwanese charm works oversees. Taiwan-based machine tool provider YCM carved out space in the American market.
