Mr. Robot Warns of Printer Hacking

    /

HP has launched an ad campaign featuring Christian Slater, TV’s Mr. Robot, to warn against cyber threats to printers. The first episode of this web advertising series can be found here, Slater plays a hacker infiltrating business computers via mail room printers to find “the info I’m looking for.”

This ad appears a few weeks after someone claimed to have hacked 150,000 printers to raise awareness of the vulnerabilities of online printers without security protection. According to recent studies, 80% of French companies were hacked in 2015. And 2016 is considered the most profitable cyber-crime year ever.
