The Return of Airships?

The idea carries us back to the 1930s, ancient history for the younger generation. But the return of airships to our skies already has reached an advanced stage. Filled with helium gas, Airlander 10, created by Hybrid Air Vehicle, is the lightest of aircraft. At 92 meters long, it is bigger than a Boeing 747, and can stay aloft for five days. Airlander 10 will enter active service next year for a variety of missions—advertising, humanitarian aid delivery and airspace surveillance. After a first successful test earlier in August, the Flying Bum crashed at the end of August. Hybrid Air Vehicle is investigating the accident.
