The goal is clear—by 2030, 25% of the Emirates’ car fleet will be autonomous. The Dubai Autonomous Transportation Strategy is expected to save €5 million in annual economic costs, including transportation costs, carbon emissions and accidents. An electric self-driving shuttle already is being tested in Dubai. Moving speeds of up to 25 km/h, it runs along a single traffic lane, like a tram. While it ordinarily follows a set route, it can be re-programmed if needed.
