EMO. Predictive Maintenance: Peering into the Future

Imagine being able to predict the future of your machines. This is now possible thanks to predictive maintenance. A leading theme at EMO Hannover, PM is more accurate than any fortune teller and a real money saver.

At the Siemens fair booth we spoke to Bernd Hufragel from customer service. “Predictive maintenance enables us to see over the long term what will happen to a machine tool based on its operational history stored by the CNCs.”

The objective: reducing downtime and decreasing maintenance. In a word, forecasting the machine’s future status and carrying out maintenance work upstream. In the future, predictive maintenance might enable the machine to self-diagnose, and even order replacement parts from a supplier before they actually fail.
