“Industry 4.0 is about connecting the equipment on the factory floor with the enterprise’s systems and making intelligent decisions for improvements and optimization,” started Regu Ayyaswamy, VP for Engineering and Industrial Services at Tata Consultancy Services. “Our goal is to bring digitalization and information technology solutions into traditional manufacturing to make Industry 4.0 a reality.”
At Hannover Messe, the Indian company presented virtual technology aimed at “re-imagining” the factory of tomorrow: Digital Reimagination. “The idea is to completely virtualize manufacturing to respond to an important market demand: mass customization,” explained Mr. Ayyaswamy.
Tata’s computer-aided engineering combines mass production and customization. It simulates manufacturing by enabling the virtual design of products according to the customer requirements. But the software also makes it possible to visualize process capabilities within a 3D representation of the plant before moving to real production.
